The Calgary Canine Centre

The Calgary Canine Centre was opened and incorporated in 1995 and was developed as a year round training outlet.  We have focused our abilities on dog sports.  If you want to challenge your dog and yourself, we have a wide variety of dog sports for you and your dog.  We have been involved in teaching, competing, holding trials and seminars in agility and flyball since 1987.  All our teaching methods are Positive and use Motivational techniques.

Janet Ooms - owner and lead trainer

I reside in a house full of Cocker Spaniels. As a long time breeder of Cocker Spaniels, I strive to maintain and showcase the breed's versatility. I have competed successfully with my Cockers in Conformation, Obedience, Flyball and Agility. I have been a multi-venue competitor in agility, and have competed in NADAC, USDAA, CKC and AAC events. Recently, I started training my dogs for field events and

k9 nosework.

For over 30 years, I have been involved with dogs and dog sports. I am the owner of the Calgary Canine Centre and a NADAC Judge since its inception in 1993. I competed in, and won, my division at the NADAC Championships in 2000 & 2008 and placed in the top 3 overall multiple years including 2nd place overall in 2012.

In addition to teaching classes I also give seminars through out Canada and the United States.  I attend seminars whenever possible to continue my education.

Anyone who has been instructed by me, or done a seminar with me, knows the passion that I bring to  teaching and the love I have for all dogs. It is this passion, combined with my teaching knowledge and experience that helps to inspire and motivate both dog and handler alike.
